Our beloved Ora Mae Perkins was born on February 21st, 1950, in Lake Providence, Louisiana to Willie Mae Perkins and Sam Harris of Lake Providence, Louisiana.
Ora was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a Christian and faithful member of Temple of Believers Community Church. You could always rely on her faithful attendance until poor health forced her to worship from a distance.
Ora graduated Jordan High School and a year at Los Angeles Community College. Ora was a Block Captain in our community for many years. She also liked to go to Las Vegas. She enjoyed playing cards, going to Bingo and spending time with her grandchildren. And she loved to cook.
On October 10th, 2022, at the age of 72, our Heavenly Father called her home.
She is preceded in death by her mother, her father, her two grandsons, Lavell Boyston Jr. and Jajwan Barnes, and one granddaughter, Miracle Barnes.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband, Melvin Smith, one brother, Charlie P. Henderson, two sons, Jerome Barnes and Lavell Boyston, one daughter, Twinkie Avery, three granddaughters, Sada Barnes, Jasmine Barnes, and Leilany Jenkins, eight grandsons, Jerome Barnes, Jr., Jerome Barnes, Jr. #2, Jeremy Barnes, JaQuan Barnes, Lavell Boyston, Jaccaree Boyston, Joe Marion Boyston and Isaiah Boyston, one great grandson, Jaylen Barnes and two God daughters, Mickelle Randolph and Lolo James along with a host of family and friends.
She will be forever missed but she is peace with her Lord and Savior.
